Ireland wicketkeeper-batter Amy Hunter will miss this month’s tour to India because of a foot injury with Joanna Loughran coming into the squad as her replacement.

Leinster CC’s Loughran, 20, made her international debut last February and returns to the squad after missing out on the recent Bangladesh tour.

The Irish are set to play their first-ever bilateral series against the hosts in India with the three ODIs part of the ICC Women’s Championship.

The games will be played at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on 10, 12 and 15 January.

“Amy is a big loss – while just 19 years old, she has already amassed 74 caps under her belt,” said Ireland Women’s head coach Ed Joyce.

“But we have worked hard at developing and preparing a wider pool of players to manage the step up to the international stage, and are confident in our squad.”
