Our Yorkshire Farm’s Clive Owen let his sons take over some of his duties in the final episode of the Channel 4 series
Our Farm Next Door: Clive reflects on getting older
In a rerun of Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids, Clive Owen candidly acknowledged his advancing age and expressed his readiness to “pass on the baton” to his offspring.
The Channel 4 series, which debuted last year, documented the Owen family’s endeavours to refurbish Anty John’s, albeit encountering several hitches along the way.
In the concluding episode, Clive observed his son Miles taking over the lawn mowing duties for the first time. Clive said to the camera: “We are cutting grass today. Now is our time, but the weather has been very unsettled,” adding that they were seizing the opportunity during a brief spell of good weather.
Navigating the complex terrain of their fields was a task Clive had always undertaken, and he found joy in passing it on to his son. “It is quite complicated, especially on these awkward fields. It is something I have always done, and it’s lovely that I am not doing it. So, I am just telling him off, and he is fed up of me already,” Clive jested.

Reflecting on his sons’ growth, Clive noted: “They’re grown-up these lads, and it’s good for them to take over these jobs. Miles is a young man now so the mowing is for him,” reports Yorkshire Live.
Acknowledging his own physical limitations with age, he appreciated the younger generation stepping up. He concluded by looking ahead: “It’s time to pass on the baton and let them do more and more, and that is how it is. I am here to watch over them and annoy them, and we will get there in the end.”
Meanwhile, in another segment of the episode, Amanda Owen was delighted to assemble the entire family for a rare group photo.
“It is great to have the whole gang back,” shared Amanda. “I wanted to get the family together to get a photograph standing on the hillside with Anty John’s there in the background.
“I think it is something we will be able to look back on. We’ll see the kids growing up and going their own way, and we will also see the house evolving as well.”
She later added, “The problem with the kids is they all want to head to civilisation. They want to head to places where their phones work and where you can order a Deliveroo, you know, living the high life.
“Then all of a sudden it wears a bit thin and they realise that actually, it is quite fun riding horses, wearing wellies and they all come back again and I think that is great, we can have the best of both worlds.”
